Trust Chess Tournament 2026

Learners from across our Trust came together at South Wigston High School recently for a brilliant day of competitive chess, joined by our partners from Wyken Croft Primary School.

With matches taking place across both Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, the tournament brought together a wide range of learners, each showing focus, patience and real strategic thinking. From carefully planned openings to tense endgames, every round reflected the skill and determination on display.

It was particularly encouraging to see learners from different schools connecting through a shared interest, building confidence and learning from one another throughout the day.

A fantastic event that celebrated not only competition, but collaboration, respect and a genuine love of the game.
